Saturday Update: Refocused

Here’s how I did on my goals that I set last week: Eat according to Paleo at least 90% of the time.  Yes!  And my “cheats” were really noncaloric ones (diet ginger ale and diet mtn dew).  I still need to work on finding satisfying paleo-friendly snacks. Run 3x including a six-mile run and one set of repeats.  Sort of.  Last weekend my long run got cut short by a series of unfortunate events (more … Continue reading

Saturday Update: Speed Work Hurts!

It’s been a crazy week with lots of things going on at home and work. Saturday – ran 3 miles Sunday – Easter w/family (ate off plan for lunch) (there may have been cupcakes involved) Monday – 30 minutes on bike & 30 minutes weights (had big presentation until 8pm) Tuesday – work got crazy and I missed my run. Wednesday – helped put on a full day CPE/training so I didn’t get to workout, … Continue reading

Saturday Update: Paleo Week 2

I’m just finishing up week two of my Paleo eating experiment.  I’ve done really well, with only two “cheats” this week.   On Thursday, after a three mile run, our office had a big breakfast and I drank two delicious, ice cold glasses of orange juice.  I’m not sure if that’s a cheat or not, but that OJ tasted like heaven!  And I went to the spa (they sent me a 25% off coupon since it … Continue reading

Saturday Update – Going Paleo

So, last week I promised I was starting over again…again.  And I’m really happy to report that I have done great this week!  I did some research last Saturday on different low/healthy carb diets.  I was considering Atkins, South Beach and Paleo, so I went to the library and checked out a bunch of books.  After reading them all, I picked Paleo as the diet of choice because it includes fruit, veggies, eggs and meat.  … Continue reading

Saturday Update

This is going to be short and not so sweet!  I did get my running back on track with runs on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.  I also ate much better starting on Monday.  Unfortunately, I got sick AGAIN on Wednesday night and it hit me like a freight train Thursday afternoon.  I never go home from work early, but I did on Thursday! In fact, I got super chilled and was shivering because I was … Continue reading

Saturday Update: Off the wagon

Yep, things went bad this week.  I can blame stress, hormones, fatigue and being frustrated with running injuries but honestly, I just decided to eat crap this week.  We got back from a week at Disney (I was at a conference most of the days but played at Disney World after hours) and I had no healthy food in the house and I was absolutely exhausted and I just caved and asked Erik to bring … Continue reading

Saturday Update: The week that lasted a nanosecond

Wow, I knew I was going to have a busy week but that was ridiculous!  It really feels like I was just writing my last Saturday update a few minutes ago.  We (my mom, Eli and I) got the car packed Saturday night and drove down to Walt Disney World Resort very early Sunday morning (we left around 5:50am) and checked in at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness.  From there, we took the boat to … Continue reading

Saturday (Sunday) Update

I got caught up in a book and missed doing my weekly update yesterday.  It’s been a really busy week both at home and at work and I’ve been feeling kind of burnt out.  I have been taking Melatonin for a few months because I really like how it lets me fall asleep so easily, but I think that it may be contributing to my daytime lethargic feeling.  I didn’t take it the last two … Continue reading

Saturday Update: From Disney…Again!

My mom, Eli and I are all at Walt Disney World (yes…again) for the WDW runDisney races.  I ran the 10K yesterday and had a great time (look for the recap this week!) and I hate to admit it, but I’m really really really happy that I’m not running the half or full this year.  Partly because my training got so derailed with the #Plague2014 running through my family and partly because it’s kind of … Continue reading

Friday Update: the good and the bad

Well, I didn’t weigh myself again today.  I started my new diet bet on Monday at 183.0.  Yes, I gained over the last two weeks because of (1) saying goodbye to junk AGAIN and (2) two days at Disney.  Cupcakes, chips, soda and the No Way Jose sundae at Beaches & Cream.  At least we shared it and I didn’t get this: I’ve shed a couple of those pounds this week but had a rough … Continue reading
