TotR: 2015 Race Plans

It’s time for the next exciting episode of Tuesdays on the Run!  Patty from My No-Guilt Life, Erika from MCM Mama Runs and I chose “2015 Race Plans/Dreams/Hopes” as today’s topic (but as always, any running topic is welcome to link up).

2015RacesMy 2015 race schedule is woefully light on runDisney races.  Here’s what I have so far:

  • January -WDW 10k
    • Maybe also the Newnans Lake 15k depending on my training progress in the next couple of weeks
  • February – Gasparilla 15k and 8k (Lime Challenge)
  • March – Asheville Half (hills & cold…this one might just kill me)
    • Maybe also the Trail of Payne 10k if I survive Asheville
  • April – Flatwoods 5k (I need one of those pinecone trophies)
  • July – Melon Run 3 Miler – I’m going to win one of those watermelon age group awards!
  • October – Gator Growl 2 Miler (if we’re in town, we sometimes go to Disney over homecoming weekend)
    • Maybe the new race at WDW that will replace Tower of Terror (I’m totally speculating here, but I think we’ll see a Star Wars race announced soon for WDW…maybe for this October!).
  • November – Wine & Dine Half
    • And Space Coast Half

I’d like to figure out how to work a Ragnar race in there somewhere, preferably later in the year.  I am going to keep an eye out for some extra 5ks in the Spring and Fall to keep me honest in my speed work.

What’s on your race calendar for 2015?

    • I can highly recommend both Space Coast and Wine & Dine when you’re ready to pull the trigger!

    • My poor body just can’t handle too much back to back racing! Maybe one day!!

    • I keep hoping some of my friends will commit to a Ragnar and I can just pay the money and join in instead of having to do all the planning and logistics!

    • I feel like I’m paralyzed by too many Ragnar choices! They all look amazing, including the trail ones…. It’s too hard to choose!

    • You only get the watermelon if you place in your age group! And this is a crazy fast town of runners!! But I’m going to get my weight down and my speed up and I’ll be feasting on watermelon after that race! 🙂

    • Wine & Dine is my favorite runDisney half (so far!). Hope to see you there!

  1. I always thought I’d do a Disney race when my kids were old enough to get into the whole Disney thing. Alas, they never did! Wah! Gasparilla and Space Coast are also on my bucket list….one of these years…

    • I’ll say that Space Coast is my all time favorite race so far. I’m not sure I’d like to do the full there because you have to run past the finish line in the middle of the full and I’d have a hard time with that, but the half is just perfect!

    • If I’m not training for something, somehow my weekly runs get skipped way too often! If I have races on the calendar (and paid for!), suddenly my training is much more consistent. I hope the October hole gets filled with some runDisney magic soon!

    • I’m excited about Asheville but I’m also a bit scared of the hills and cold! If they do bring a Star Wars race to WDW, I will be there for sure!

    • Zooma and Rock n Roll are both great races that I would love to try one day!

    • This is my first time at Gasparilla and I have high hopes that I’m going to love it! That Sarasota race looks great but I’m not sure about the bridge!!

    • Yeah, the hills are a bit scary! Maybe we’ll cross paths next year!

    • LOL, I feel the same way about the Star Wars races at Disneyland this weekend!

    • That sounds great! Have fun and good luck! It’s getting pretty close

    • I was hoping to do ToT this year too. Hopefully something fun will replace it!
