Today’s Tuesdays on the Run linkup with Patty from My No-Guilt Life, Erika from MCM Mama Runs is all about our very favorite races. Whether it’s the best race because you PR’ed, BQ’ed, had the best mimosa ever, or just because it was a blast, we want to hear about it!
As for me, I have been kind of quiet on the internet this week. I’m suffering through my FIFTH head cold of the season, which is very unusual for me. I’m going to make an appointment with an ENT doctor soon to see if he can help me clear this mess up! I also (I’m blaming the head cold for brain fog) drove off with my iPhone on the roof of my car last Friday, ruining the phone (when it hit the pavement). We spent a lovely weekend at the beach with very little internet activity, playing at the pool, on the beach and reading in our room.
I had my first DNS (did not start) ever in a race last weekend as well! I was scheduled to run a 10k but my sinuses were killing me and I just felt (and still do feel) exhausted! I’ve run races before when I was really sick but it’s not a lot of fun. The race registration was pretty cheap and supported a rural school, so I didn’t really feel bad about “wasting” the registration fee and I’m trying to get my ego out of my running, so I decided to do the smart thing and rest last weekend.
I feel like I need a little blogging break, so I’m hunkering down a bit, but don’t worry I’m sure I’ll come back refreshed next week! I’m sucked into a really engaging new (well new to me) book series by Terry Goodkind which might be part of my problem getting my motivation up to write! I’m having too much fun being drawn into a new world (I’m a serious bookworm!).
Ok, back to the actual topic of the week! My very favorite race (so far) was the 2013 Space Coast Half Marathon. It’s the first (and maybe only so far) half marathon that I ran straight, with no walk intervals. I also PR’ed it and I just felt awesome the whole time! I’ve linked to my race recap, so check it out if you want to learn more about what I consider the Best Race Ever (sorry runDisney!). I’ll give the Tink 10k a runner-up award because it was pretty darn awesome and I had some great company along the way!
